Zacc Harris Group formed in 2009 and features some of the Twin Cities most celebrated improvisers with Bryan Nichols (pn), Chris Bates (bs), JT Bates (dr), Brandon Wozniak (ts) and Aaron Hedenstrom (as). The group released its debut album, The Garden, in 2012 and recently followed up with the critically acclaimed 2021 album Small Wonders. Downbeat Magazine gave it 4 stars saying, “Harris reveals a fondness for intricate heads and chops-busting unisons” and notes the guitarist’s “fluid, warm-toned style.” Harris was named Twin Cities Best Jazz Artist in 2017 by City Pages who wrote, “Since he first moved to Minnesota from southern Illinois, this remarkably fluid guitarist has positioned himself at the center of the Twin Cities jazz world…Whether playing alongside the McKnight-winning Atlantis Quartet or fronting his own Zacc Harris Group, Harris makes his mark, incorporating lessons from the greats into his own forward-looking style.”
“Small Wonders is big on melody, intelligent arrangements, and powerful as well as thoughtful solos.” - Richard Kamins, Step Tempest
“The level of craft is high from start to finish…Similar to his writing, Harris’s guitar style is distinctly his while also part of a continuum that extends back to earlier players like Jim Hall and Wes Montgomery.” - Ron Schepper, Textura
“The ease with which this group navigates and their interplay is magical.”
