Juliet and the Montagues
March 10 @ 9:30 pm – 11:30 pm
Juliet and the Montagues is a new band bridging genres into what fans call “a smooth, funky, witty, charming-as-hell jazz machine.” Fronted by singer-songwriter Juliet Catherine, the band brings tunes about falling hard, queer heartache, and female empowerment to life with hints of jazz, R&B, country, funk, and – of course! – an occasional nod to the Minneapolis sound.
Juliet’s songwriting career took off when she won the Arizona Daily Star Battle of the Bands at age 16 as part of the twin duo Mirror Image. Her sweet and intricate songs have earned recognition in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, with appearances at the 2009 NAMM Show in Anaheim and the Adams Avenue Street Fair in San Diego, CA.
The band – aka, the Montagues – are: Daniel Defoe (Joan of Profile) on lead guitar, Charlie Milkey (Caballo Cósmico, Half the City) on bass, and Beth Varela (The Good Time Gals, Miss Myra and the Moonshiners) on drums.
