A special evening-length performance by Doug Haining’s Jazz Quintet celebrating their re-release of “Last Man Swinging”

The Doug Haining Quintet has been together for more than 20 years, playing at clubs and private events. In 2010, the band produced a CD called ‘Last Man Swinging’ that was included in Pamela Espeland’s Top 10 jazz released of the year. The CD will be available at the show. For this performance, the band will revisit a few of the tunes from the CD as well as other material we’ve accumulated through the years. Doug is very well known to Jazz audiences as the leader of the Explosion Big Band and the Twin Cities Seven. In addition to Doug and his amazing versatility as a bandleader and multi-instrumentalist, this group will feature Dave Graf on trombone who has long been considered the best Jazz trombone player in Minnesota. It’s always a wonder to hear that instrument handled so musically and seemingly effortlessly in the hands of this artist.
